Our Studio

Majors ‘n’ Minors is a South Auckland/Franklin-based music & theatre studio specifically catering for young people, although adults are enrolled in some of the programmes. Its director, Lynda McDowall, is a registered children’s music specialist and a member of NEWZATS (singing teachers). In 2018 the studio will celebrate its 25th continuous year of teaching. Over the years, our tutors have inspired numerous children and teens in vocal, instrumental and early childhood programmes. Seven teachers are currently working in four local studios, offering group and individual tuition to approximately 200 students each week. A number of the students are age-group winners/placegetters in the various regional competitions and they have a 100% pass rate in ABRSM (Royal Schools) & Trinity exams. The orchestra meets weekly in term time for ensemble and competition work. The very popular musical theatre groups present a major theatrical production in August every year. To date, they have performed Annie Jr, The Pied Piper, Porridge, Shrek Jr and G2K The Sound of Music.
